HDTV Size chart With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. LG INFINIA 55LE8500 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz Full LED Slim LCD HDTV Review

Well I finally did it after probably 5 years of humming and hoing … I went out and got the 55 inch bad boy LCD. I thought I was set on the 55″ LGLH90 (going out of production) – but the spec on the 8500 was so much better and it has full array LED backlighting and also serious wireless and online capabilities – that I had to spend the extra for the newer model. Another bonus is that in my opinion the 8500 is a better looking TV – the flat one piece glass front with only a thin black border is stunning and easy to keep clean as no dust traps. TV was easy enough to assemble to stand but you do need 2 people to handle a 55″ safely. Once assembled and powered up the TV setup was easy and eveything worked perfectly out of the box. I was a bit worried about the reflectivity of the glass front screen as the TV is in my family room which is very bright with 9 windows – but I set the TV high in the room above the fireplace and this really hasn’t been a problem day or night. Because of the amazing colors and contrast it is like being AT the ballgame. The black is very deep and the colors vibrant. Our room is 28 ft across so we sit anywhere between 12 and 20 ft from the screen. Sound is pretty good from the built in speakers – I will be processing through audio equipment soon for surround sound. Also did not get / go wireless yet but intend to do this – right now everything is hard wired. The picture is mesmerizing in it’s quality – I have fios HD and it really is another world – there could be no going back from here.

So far so good then – I am delighted with this TV. True proof of the pudding will be in reliable operation over many years as we keep things a long time. We personally did not care about 3D although we know it’s the latest thing. This picture is so real it looks almost 3D much of the time. Watching old movies (HD pay per view) on this TV makes them new like we didn’t see them before. Sports are amazing – huge baseball fans but now also looking forward to football as the pre-season games prove that this TV displays fast pace sports action no problem. I thoroughly recommend this TV.

VIZIO E370VA 37-inch Full HD 1080p LCD HDTV Review

Just picked this set up from Sam’s Club for a great price. The display set in the store didn’t do this set justice. Right out of the box this tv was easy to set up to my PC, Xbox 360 and my stereo all within 20mins (no dead pixels :]). The Hi-def picture quality is awesome. The graphics coming from the xbox are astounding, and it is the perfect size for a large PC screen. Fits perfectly in a bedroom, just about the largest TV I would want for a bedroom, any bigger and you’d be to close to the screen for optimum viewing.

I bought this set mainly to use as a bigger display than my 17″ lcd on my laptop, and i was a little skeptical about the color temp and the resolution compared to a high-end computer monitor. As soon as i hooked up my laptop via the HDMI cable this screen blew my mind, the text is sharp, the color temp is spot on (has menu features to adjust) and the shear size makes editing photos in photoshop and lightroom a breeze. I’m a professional photographer and I am pretty picky when it comes to color and res and this set was exactly what I was looking for.

Haier HLC19SL2 Black 19-Inch Ultra Slim LED LCD HDTV DVD Combo Review

I love this TV. The DVD is what I use it for primarily. It seems to work just fine. Picture is great, sound is very good and the controller seems easy enough to use. It also had a headphone jack for speakers or headphones which is also nice. It has an input to let you plug in HD components like satellite or even a blu ray player. I actually have my PS3 player hooked to it so I’m getting full high definiton for my movies. If you’re going to use the DVD player on the TV itself, be careful not to move the TV while the DVD is running. I did this and it scratched the DVD, but that’s pretty much common sense not to move this thing when it’s in motion.

My only problem I had with this thing is when I had a DVD that had multiple angles on it. The angle change works fine enough, but for the entire DVD, an “angle” icon stays on the TV. I was unable to find a way to remove it at all. It’s very annoying. It only pops up for DVD’s that “support multiple” angles which these DVD’s are not very common. I was watching a 3 Stooges DVD that one angle was black and white, and the other was color. I’m sure there is a way to remove it, but I could not figure it out. All in all though, great TV. Samsung UN55C5000 55-Inch 1080p 60 Hz LED HDTV (Black) Review

I was searching for a 1080p HDTV to fully appreciate my blu-ray player. My 4-year old 40-inch LCD (Samsung) is 1080i and it now looks dated thanks to newer technology. My new TV must be 1080p, aesthetically gorgeous, preferably LED and preferably 50-inch+ under ,000. This Samsung UN55C5000 certainly fits the bill. Refresh rate was almost irrelevant since differences in picture quality between 60hz (series 5) and 120hz (series 6) were not convincing enough for me to burn extra dollars. I am not sure how 240hz would compare.

I have had this UN55C5000 for three weeks now. I connected it to a home theater system and Xbox as well as to my media center PC as a secondary monitor. The picture quality is, perhaps as expected, absolutely mesmerizing. It is just so good that my guests often mistake desktop background pictures for real printed drawings. Definitely the best in its class, in my opinion. After playing with the picture settings for a while, I realized the factory default setting was just good enough.

Aesthetically speaking, I couldn’t be happier. The design is very slim, clean and simplistic yet elegant. After all, even when turned off, it looks like a piece of art hanging on the wall. Whoever visits my house, the first thing they do is praising the TV. For some people, it takes a few long seconds to realize it is in fact a TV. It is so thin and light, screaming to be attached to the wall. All the hookups are carefully laid out for a clean look.

LED TVs are known to consume less energy. I can tell that my new Samsung produces noticeably less heat than the LCD. I have no comments on sound. I turn off the TV speakers and use my home theater.

The only downside I can think of is its remote controller. It has glowing big buttons (they have backlight) on a strikingly boring shaped body. I think it is designed exclusively for older people with big hands. It looks odd next to the TV aesthetically.

I definitely recommend this Samsung to those looking for a 50+ inch TV. I would say not to settle with something for less.

One of the main reasons to get this flat panel over others is the lack of glare. I looked at all brands and they all seemed to display the stores mercury vapor lights quite well except for the LG models. There is no glare from my windows or overhead lights at home.. it is very nice. The other beauty of this set is the clarity and display of colors that I didn’t know existed. We popped in Nemo for the kids when we first got and stared in disbeleif at how beautiful the charecters were in bright tropical colors… It is also only about an inch thick and weighs only 40 pounds so easy for 1 person to move or even mount on the wall. I bought this back in Feb 10 so we would have something to entertain the kids til our stuff got here when we moved. This is now used in our spare bedroom as a TV/ Computer monitor. Wasn’t sure if it would be a good deal or not with all the bad reviews BUT when you actually read most of the complaints people need to realize what they have. A 19″ LED TV for under 0. I will say it again a 19″ LED TV for under 0.

Here are my views on everyone’s gripes
1. Menu keeps popping up. Yes mine does this. They have the sensor to close the the screen so when you get bright pictures or the sun hits it it comes up annoying yes a little but it was 0.

2. Sound quality bad. I don’t know how most people are getting their channels but i have mine going straight from cable outlet. Sound is GREAT i rarely have it above 2 even my digital channels sound good.

3. Slow channel changes. I don’t know what type of TV’s everyone has but i have a 40″ Sony and a 46″ Samsung both are LCD’s bought within the last 2 1/2 years. Both setup through cable box with HDMI cable and BOTH take a couple seconds to change channels. I Have a CRT that you can roll right through the channels but when i am watching on any other TV i do what they say Adapt and over come. Just a reminder in case you have forgotten 0 TV.

I have tried the DVR function which is pretty neat for a 0 TV Without a DVR cable box/ satellite box. It is a little choppy every couple seconds but i cannot complain BECAUSE I PAID 0. I understand 0 is 0. I am not rich by any means but i do know that you get what you pay for. You cannot expect a 0 tv to work like a 00 tv. This thing is picking up all the digital channels as well as my basic cable channels. Needless to say the digital are a lot better quality. I love the picture quality. I have this running on a 1500Va battery backup, during our last power outage run time said 87 Mins 15 mins later it said 87 mins left. Nothing else was plugged into the battery side just the TV. If you are still reading this review just remember to take all reviews with a grain of salt. like another reviewer said you expect the space shuttle from 0. Sony Bravia XBR KDL-55XBR8 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz Triluminos LED LCD HDTV Review

I bought this tv a few months ago. It has a beautiful picture and I love the look of the tv itself. I currently own a 46 inch xbr2 lcd. I was disappointed that the bezel was scratched right out of the box. After reading some other reviews on the tv I found out it has a plastic covering on the bezel. When that was removed it looked perfect. Two minor areas of concern, the screen is more reflective than the xbr 2 which I don’t like. Not sure why they did that. As some others have mentioned I do notice some motion judder that I did not see on the xbr 2. I primarily see it on the scrolling info line at the bottom of the screen on ESPN. Never saw that on the xbr 2 and this is supposed to have advanced motionflow. Tried the different motion options in the menu and nothing helped. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience.

LG 47LE5400 47-Inch 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV Review

Prior to this TV we had a 40′ Sony XBR2 LED which I love and was moved to the bedroom with this purchase. After reading reviews and taking stock of the features of this TV I decided to take the plunge and get the LG. I had purchased an LG monitor last year and loved it, and this TV lives up to that purchase. The picture is incredible first off. I went in to Best Buy and compared it to all the high-end models, and this one held it’s own against Samsung’s and Sony’s, for half the price. It looks like the price has gone up a bit here since I purchased it, but that’s because they sold out thru amazon and are being sold by another vendor here.

I loved the connectivity features of this TV. It had netflix streaming, vuduo and widgets. It has plenty of HDMI ports. One thing I did NOT like was that it only has an optical out. I fixed this problem by purchasing a Gefen Gtv-digaud-2aaud Digital-to-analog Audio Adapterwhich works perfectly. I simply connected the optical to this from TV, then stereo cables to my surround system. Problem solved. I also didn’t like that it didn’t have an S-video cable. I solved this by getting Pyle Home PCVHDM49 Composite Video and S-Video to HDMI Converter which works great when I connect my old videogame systems to it. I got mine in an Amazon promotion that included LG AN-WL100W Wireless Media Kit, which I was skeptical about. It actually works great, with one caveat: you cannot have a 5ghz router nearby, as it seems to interfere with the signal. Also, If you have a Logitech Harmony one remote this Tv has all kinds of problems switching inputs. It’s a long story but suffice to say myself and logitech tech support couldn’t get it to work.

I love the video quality with blu-ray, and the 24hz with blu ray works great. All in all I would def recommend this, especially for those who are looking for a good value. You can buy Cheap LG 47LE5400 47-Inch 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV Online!
