You just have to make up your mind that you want something and g_d will make a way! I got rid of my family because I was sic (sic) and tired of them bitchin' about wantin' some foooood! That freed up the money for this monster. Thank you Sony! Thank you! And g_d bless you! Every pixel lights up. That's what you spends (sic) your money for!
Its sick

You gotta spend that dope money somewhere, and this was worth it. This was the only option in my neighborhood because it was the only flatpanel I could find that is too big to steal easily.
There is no substitute...

Regrettably, I agree with D.D. Martinez. Alas, I tried quite extensively to fit this into one of my 14 luxury estates...but could not. I felt that even though having an HDTV is cheaper, I still must opt for paying live actors to perform on stage in my living room 24/7. Even though they aren't quite up-to-par when performing at 3AM, nothing compares to the real thing. I would take to watching flesh and blood with my Dom Perignon and caviar over a sterile, impersonal thing like an HDTV any day of the year. If you'll excuse me, I must now go cleanse my hands in my 24K gold laundry room sink, as I feel I have dirtied myself by reviewing such a mediocre "entertainment" appliance.
WAY OVERPRICED

Review Date: April 8, 2008
Reviewer: Dilla, Los Angeles, CA
Clearly SONY is trying to capitalize on LED hype and the relatively few who offer a 70" screen size, but $30K+ for this TV, the term OFF YOUR ROCKER does not even begin to explain the logic of justifying this purchase, SAMSUNG already has LED backlights and and 120Mhz processor for image production for 1/4th the price. SONY needs to lower the price of this to the $8K to $10K range and then it will be a great buy, until then SONY is SMOKING the good stuff, to try and price at this level.
Rediculously overpriced

Review Date: May 12, 2008
Reviewer: C. Davidson, Northern NY
The reviewer who is building their "showcase" house and looks down on those who live in apartments and dorm rooms, should learn the phrase "diminishing returns."

I have met these kinds of people many times in my travels. They believe all you have to do is throw massive amounts of money into something and it'll be exponentially better for it. Wrong. There comes a place where beyond a certain price point the display unit will not provide the eye and the brain with even an incremental increase in visual quality.

I understand that when a person is ultra-wealthy they don't want to let money be an obstacle, but how gauche is it to waste $40,000 on a TV! $40,000 is enough to build a large, and VERY nice, VERY stylish theater.

$40,000 would be enough to have an acoustically treated room; high-end pre/pro and multi-channel amps; very nice speakers (in-wall or otherwise) that would fill a 3,000 cubed foot room with rich sounds; a virtually silent 1080p ceiling mounted front projection system with an acoustically transparent 120" permanently torsioned screen; in-wall wiring of course; upconvert DVD player, blu-ray player, HD cable/sat receiver, and finally an integrated media-center PC.

I admit that theater seating and the popcorn machine would be extra.

Point is this. If you're so rich you can buy that TV... don't. Make a gorgeous theater for 40 or $50,000, and give the rest to a worthy charity. Oh by the way, I to could afford the TV =)

Amazing picture, CNET was right!

Review Date: January 26, 2010
Reviewer: Noni, NYC
This TV has an amazingly beautiful picture, with deep darks and bright colors, and good saturation even in soft, light colors that might get washed out on other TVs. Scenic panoramas are so realistic! One reviewer said they thought the picture was too dark overall, but I can't understand why, unless it's being watched in a very bright room. My experience is that we had to turn the LED backlight down a lot to make it dim enough and save our retinas. We're very impressed with the picture quality and the sound is even impressive for a TV, but we still hooked it up to the stereo system, because of course that's better. But we were impressed with the audio quality as far as TV speakers go.

There was an issue with 1 of the 4 HDMI ports not working, however LG said for any TV over 30", they will send a technician to your home to repair any issue not caused by customer abuse, and this would be covered, but since we only really need 2 inputs, it's a tolerable defect. One other small complaint is that the HDMI ports have a loose fit, however, in three weeks, we only had to tighten once and they're holding steady. The ports are just around behind the screen, easily accessible without going behind the TV, so it's no problem. These issues are minor, and I would still choose this TV over others for it's great picture quality! I'm very happy we bought it, and at such a great price. And for LG's fabulous customer support, 5 stars.

The seller was great (Video & Audio Center) and shipped it same day for free. It arrived in just a couple days.
You will like this Bigscreen

Review Date: January 30, 2010
Reviewer: Kyle N. Black,
I just recently purchased this set and have been happy with it. Works great right out of the box with all the features you want. No analog audio out so you will need a digital-analog converter for optical sound cable out if you use an old receiver. Great remote, extensive menu and fantastic picture. Of course SD broadcasts look terrible. Bezel is shiny and VERY BIG, which I'm still getting used to but overall quite happy and understand why CNET gave it a 4 out of 5 stars and is just as good as a plasma picture wise. LED-LCD backlit which means TV will last forever and uses less power than most lcd's. You will be happy with this set.
Fantastic TV !

Review Date: January 10, 2010
Reviewer: Steve C., Fort Lauderdale
I researched this TV at CNET and now I see why it was rated so high. Easy to set up right out of the box, Beautiful crisp and bright picture. Great sound and plenty of features.
I live in an apartment and love this t.v.!!!

Review Date: February 17, 2010
Reviewer: E S,
First I will talk about this shipping rather quickly(audio & video center-I hope that's the right name?)from Cali. It shipped in the tv's original packaging, and opened it to see it was in perfect condition. I did have it shipped to my place of business(furniture warehouse)just because I knew the fed ex guy and was familiar with having to make claims if it was damaged. It was fine!
Got tv home put 4 Phillips head screws into the base, make sure to make them tight and Do Not Strip the heads.
The tv isn't very heavy if you move it alone, but since it is my new baby I had a friend help me carry it.

The size is rather large because the frame of the tv.I am guessing this is one of the larger 42" tv's(size wise).I had to fit mine into an Armoire,It was very close to not fitting. So if you are tight on space measure well before you get this tv(it is also kind of a tall tv).
I read there are issues with viewing angles, well I live in a one bed room apt. and have no problems at all.I sit center of tv about 8 ft. away on a larger sized sofa(looks fine from one end to the other).I also sat in my recliner about 9-10ft.away(sitting in chair tv is at my 2o'clock)Looks fine not perfect but unless you have an expert sitting there it is fine. It also sits up about half a ft. above eye level.Still no problems.
As far as colors go,Whites can be blinding,Blacks are deep and can be too dark if not on the right setting.
All others look crisp and beautiful.

Ok, I am no picture quality expert, but I love tv and movies and games so, Testing my Playstation 3.

Playstation 3- Tried watching Lost season 1 on Blu-Ray,OMG! It makes abc's hd channel(I think it is only 720p) look like standard definition. The opening scene when Jack wakes in the jungle and looks up into the bamboo is jaw dropping, the whole show looks incredible!
I just played Heavy Rain(Video Game) and Dante's Inferno(Video Game), Again Jaw dropping. Colors are vivid,as close to perfection as one can get.

Cable Box- I do have an HD cable box from time warner.I watch alot of sports and movies(HBO,Showtime)I recorded the superbowl in HD knowing I would get my Tv soon after the superbowl, Well the colts jerseys were as blue as can be and the white on the jerseys were great, the saints jersey looked unreal(in a good way) Gold and black looked really cool mixed with the beautiful green field.Looked like I could see almost every blade of grass.Well the big networks all look good however like I said Earlier, I watch Lost and abc's 720p showing of it is disappointing. The winter Olympics on nbc look great the white snow is very lovely and all the colors of the skiers and hockey players are wonderfully vivid and sharp.HBO and Showtime have great HD Images,I recorded Watchmen on HBO(well only 1hr of it,God it is so long)knowing I wanted to test my tv when it arrived.Looks the closest to blu-ray quality than any other channels. Oh and STANDARD def. viewing, people who say it is awful on this tv are crazy or get a weak signal.I do however get standard def.through my hdmi cable not the coax so maybe that has somthing to do with it.Standard def.is not great but it is watchable and wont upset you unless you are a stickler...

I have an X-Box 360(through component cables) I haven't played it yet but i'm certain it will be good.
Also I own an Lg surround sound system(simplink ready) so I can't say how well the speakers work, when I did turn the speakers up when first plugging in the tv(static was on the tv) I turned it up pretty loud, again it was only static but it sounded loud in my little apartment.
The tv's remote is good not great but I do like the backlit buttons, there is also a button to turn on and of the backlit buttons(I thought that was cool).much easier menu's than previous lg tv's the quick menu option is rather neat and easy to use and switch between picture options.

Finally- This T.V. was one of the cheaper LED's I found out there for it's size.It is always risky buying online and having electronics shipped long distances, My experience here was great so I'm 2 for 2 when buying tv's on amazon.someone on another review said it best, Most of the bad reviews come from the small percentage of people who did have issues and problems, who are looking for solutions and answers. Most others have no need to talk about how great there tv works(does that make sense)

If you are seriously considering this tv then don't pass it up,If you have the funds to go bigger and better than yeah, you should...hope this helped some of you
Even better than expected!

Review Date: March 1, 2010
Reviewer: Matthew T. Cunningham, Halifax, MA USA
I recently purchased this tv from adorama camera through amazon, and let me say while i was VERY nervous about buying something so large and expensive online, i am happy to report this transaction was better than any i have ever had in a store. The first obvious hang up was not being able to see this tv's picture in person, but honestly i dont believe the major retail stores accurately display these tv's anyway due to differences in feed (standard dvd through blu ray) When i first opened the box (delivered 6 days after my purchase) i found the tv in immaculate shape, no damage to the box or any of the components inside. The tv was very easy to set up, i replaced a 32 inch sony bravia lcd in my bedroom with this model, and its an absolutely incredible upgrade in every way, and i loved my bravia. I have this tv hooked up to an hd dish network receiver, and a ps3. Games and blu ray movies are unbelieveable, i also have a 46" samsung lcd in my basement and thought that that tv had the best picture quality i have ever seen untill watching this one. The colors are incredible in this model, the clarity is astonishing, and you have the ability to manipulate the settings to your liking. I must warn you that when you first plug this tv in, you will get a sinking feeling in your gut like you made a mistake. This tv absolutely needs to be calibrated!! I know very little about programming tv's, blu ray players etc, so i went to CNET and used their recommended picture settings with some minor alterations. I tend to like a brighter picture, so i use the vivid setting with some tweaks. For some reason, the 240 hz feature to me makes the picture appear worse so i turn that off, as most reviews state to do. But this tv when calibrated to your liking cannot be beat. I debated between this tv, and the samsung un40b8000. I absolutely love my 46" samsung, and the company name obviously speaks for itself. But with that stated, this tv is cheaper and fully led backlit while the samsung is side lit. My only problem with the lg is the cabinet size, it really is massive for a 42" set. But if i had to make the decision again, id purchase the LG in a heartbeat. You will love this tv

I was a bit hesitant to buy this TV as I was waiting for a price drop on the Samsung LN52B750 52-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV with Charcoal Grey Touch of Color for several days. Then, at Fry's I saw Sharp's new LC52LE700UN standing next to Samsung's LN52B750 and they both looked quite similar, though Samsung's screen was slightly brighter. The picture quality appeared to be the same. I grabbed the Sharp's remote and changed the picture settings and I was able to increase the backlight up to match Samsung's level while still maintaining amazing contrast ratio and black levels.

By the end of the day I decided to go for the Sharp TV, and I had it for almost a week now. The picture looks really great at any time of the day, when the room is dark or lit (we have a side window facing south). The TV's sound is pretty good and clear, but I decided in advance that I'd like good external speakers to match this great TV.

The TV features also a VGA input (there's also an S-Video input), which is handy for connecting a computer or laptop. I tried connecting my MacBook Pro yesterday and it was able to drive it at 1344x756 (16:9) and 1344x1008 (4:3), but I couldn't get 1920x1080. The picture looks sharp, and it was good enough to watch Hulu on it.

If there's one thing I don't like about it, it's the remote, which is not really stylish to say the least (Samsung's glossy remote looks much better). That's not a deal breaker, since most common function (Power, volume, input selection) can be done by almost any Blu-ray remote anyway (I have Samsung BD-P3600 blu-ray player remote, which looks great).

Overall, this is an excellent TV for the price and the picture quality is comparable to higher-end Samsung TVs which cost few hundred dollars more.
Sharp AQUOS LC52LE700UN 52" LED HDTV

I have had the TV for almost a month now and I am very pleased with my decision to purchase the Sharp. I did a lot of research, both on line and with actual "in store" comparisons at a nearby TV/Video store. The store had the Sharp LED, the Samsung LED and a Sony XBR, all in 46", side-by-side with the Sharp in the middle. The Sony was eliminated immediately because it's picture lacked the crispness and clarity that the LED televisions had. In three separate trips, I had almost 3 hours of watching the Sharp and Samsung televisions side-by-side. In viewing programing with darker backgrounds, I found no difference between the two. In programs with very bright backgrounds, I found the Sharp had an even brightness through the entire picture due to its full array LED and the Samsung was slightly brighter along the edge due to its edge lit LED that probably would not have been noticible if it were not sitting next to the Sharp. The decision was made during a Food Network show, and a red and white curtain in the background had a slight purplish tint on the Samsung, and was true red on the Sharp. If I was hanging the TV on the wall, the thinness of the Samsung would have been a consideration; however, the Sharp is not a thick television and would hang on the wall just fine. I also looked at several plazma TVs, but they put out an extreme amount of heat. I can hold me hand a few inches away from the screen of a LED and do not notice any temperature difference from the rest of the room, but you can really feel the heat from a plazma when standing 2 to 3 feet in front of it. The Sharp is considerably cheaper than the Samsung, and overall, Sharp has the better picture. The TV/Video store knocked $400 off of their advertised price; however, I was able to get another $400 off of that through Amazon.com. With shipping and no sales tax, I saved about $600 off my best local price and $1,000 off the local advertised price.
I recommend a Sharp LED

I'm just a regular guy and maybe I'm easily satisfied but I think the Sharp 52" LED is pretty darn good. I read all kinds of reviews and found that the Sharp had a picture that kept up with the best at a lower price. I've messed with the setting and I can't get it any better than the auto setting. Black is black. Colors are bright and pictures are sharp. I've run the TV for several hours and you can barely feel any heat coming off the top. I've got a VCR hooked up and the picture is acceptable to watch. My DVD player picture comes in a heck of a lot better than on my old 27". I am looking at getting a blu-ray player. The TV speakers are doing a good job for now. Will I get a surround sound system? Doubtful. Speaker bar may be. The room set up I have just doesn't lend itself easily to speaker placement and keeping my wife happy. I was a little leery ordering a TV over the Internet but everything arrived just great and within a week. Would I recommend a Sharp LED? I would and have.
Great Tv

I won't go into a lengthy review as others have already done that. I researched and researched some more without laying eyes on this set. It was between this set, Sony 52XBR9, and the 55" Samsung LED. I was not sold on LED I just wanted a nice set that would do 1080p and was larger than my current 42" Olivia.

We ventured down to a Brick and Mortar store just to view the set live. The store had everything set up on 720p over component video cabling, ridiculous. Thankfully the Sony sat right next to this one and the Samsung was a row over. This proved to be a nice setup for comparison. To make a long story short, this TV at least held it's ground with the other sets. The price point was the deciding factor for us. The B&M store actually price matched the best deal I could find online and beat it by about $10.

The one thing I did not care for on this set was the Heavy contrast. Dark areas lost detail. For instance a man in a black suit, you could not see the details of the suit where you could on the Sony and Samsung. **See statement on Calibration**

I found some suggested calibration settings online and WOW did that make a difference. Blacks are Black without loosing details and all the colors look natural including skin tones. The difference is night and day. The TV is bright, crisp, detailed and a new experience for us in movies and HDTV. I don't have a blue ray player hooked up yet (Christmas), I can't wait to see that one.

I only gave 4 stars for sound because what can you really expect from a TV in the sound department. I heard all of about 2 minutes of the sets sound before turning it off. I have everything running through an Onkyo receiver for 7.1 THX surround.

Pros:
Great picture quality
Price point
Not side lit

Cons:
Remote (blah)
Stock calibration is terrible
Menu system and options are a little haphazard, not well thought out.

Conclusion:
I don't regret this purchase in the least. I would buy this TV again and recommend it to others. The lack of local dimming does not seem to be a problem with this TV.
Fantastic TV 52 Sharp LED Backlit

Reviewer: Patrick J. Murray,

For the money this is the best LED back lit around! The sound is ok nothing out of the ordinary but it makes up for it in picture quality. The HD programing from Time Warner cable has never looked better. If your thinking of a LED backlit take a look at this Sharp model you wont be disappointed.
